Since its establishment in 1949, our company has been engaged in gold leaf gilding for Kyoto Buddhist altars and altar fittings, one of Kyoto’s traditional industries. Our services include restoration and renovation of famous temples and shrines across Japan. Kyoto’s unique gold leaf gilding technique involves applying gold leaf with lacquer as adhesive. Using carefully handed-down technique from the Kamakura period, we sell a wide range of products with gold leaf applied, from fashion accessories to interior art works, as well as Buddhist altar fittings. We also offer gold leaf gilding as a service. We help add originality to different materials by applying a variety of metal foils (gold, silver, and platinum) to them.

Technique: Gold leaf gilding is a traditional technique that has been used in Kyoto since the Kamakura period. In our core business, we use lacquer to restore the gold leaf finishing on temple and shrine assets. By applying this technique, different metal leaves (gold, silver, platinum, etc.) can be applied to various shapes and materials, with an appropriate adhesive.
