MaRI Co., Ltd. is developing contactless medical devices for diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea syndrome.
Most sleep apnea patients do not recognize this disease.
However, sleep apnea causes hypoxia during sleep repeatedly.
Therefore, it also causes large stress to cardiovascular system, resulting in increased risks of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke.
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), the gold standard treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, requires wearing a mask during sleep and has problems with treatment continuity (adherence).
MaRI Co., Ltd. has technologies for non-contact biological information monitoring during sleep, including digital signal processing and millimeter wave radar measurement technology. We are developing human-kind non-contact diagnosis/treatment solutions for sleep apnea syndrome (SAS). Area of Interest

VitaWatcher is a non-contact bioinformation sensor using millimeter-wave radar.
It can measure the movement of body surface caused by the breathing and heartbeat of a subject.
Its operating distance is from one to four meters, and it can detect breathing and heartbeat even when the body surface is covered by clothing or blanket.
A potential application for VitaWatcher is to install it bedside in hospital rooms, so that patient location and biometric information can be continuously monitored from a staff room.
