Since founded in 1931, our company ITOKO has been specialized in silk fiber production originally for Kimono white textile of Japanese top quality and has developed to interior material such as “Silk Glass”. Those have been made of Japanese domestic cocoons produced by the contracted farmers since 1996.
Then now we has focused on innovation in silk fibers to create "Hime-plus" silk yarn for knitwear that can be washed at home. Hime-plus silk yarn has unique construction of silk spun yarn covered with raw silk named “Matsuoka-hime” of a domestic high-grade cocoon. The core yarn is added a natural protein to stabilize the molecular arrangement of amino acids. Silk is an eco-friendly fiber that is gentle to human skin and biodegradable without placing a burden on the environment, and we hope to supply it to knitters in Japan and abroad.
