Breast reconstruction after breast cancer resection is performed with either autologous composite tissue allotransplantation or silicone implantation. Surgical invasiveness is an issue with autologous tissue harvesting, while malignant lymphoma is an issue with implants. Our project aims to commercialize a minimally invasive and cosmetically superior artificial fat (PLLA + collagen sponge), which is degraded and absorbed in vivo and replaced by autologous fat over several years, as the world’s first medical product for artificial fat in the breast reconstruction and augmentation surgery market.
