The world’s first spherical solar cell more efficiently captures light from all directions, bringing solar energy closer to our lives. Why do solar cells need to be flat? The sun moves from east to west, and with direct and reflected light, sunlight never shines from the same direction throughout the day. Based on the idea of more efficiently capturing sunlight and converting it into energy, we developed the world’s first spherical solar cell with a diameter of less than 2 mm, which allows for omnidirectional light capture. Depending on how these cells are connected, power generation modules of various shapes and sizes can be produced. There are no restrictions on the angle or direction of its placement due to its omnidirectionality, and its see-through nature allows for a variety of designs that do not obstruct the scenery. Our product is suitable for a wide range of applications that were previously impossible with flat solar cells. We call the spherical solar cell Sphelar®. The name Sphelar® is a contraction of “Spherical Solar.” Area of Interest

Unlike ordinary flat solar cells, Sphelar® spherical solar cells have a spherical light-capturing surface. Each cell is 1-2 mm in diameter and bead-shaped. The spheres have +/- electrodes on the top and bottom. These electrodes can be connected with conductors to form power generation modules of various shapes. Using these power generation modules, we are manufacturing products that can use solar energy in everyday settings.
