Located in Kyoto, we manufacture and sell hand-painted Kyo-Yuzen kimono and obi.
We create original works, using colors and designs that combine tradition and modernity, as well as patterns that suit each material.
With our deep collection of 20,000 patterns, we can propose fabrics made with hand-painting Kyo-Yuzen techniques and traditional colors and patterns, as well as develop original fabric accessories. We can also respond to various requests, including prototypes and small lot production.
We also offer tours and hand-painted yuzen dyeing lessons at our workshop. Area of Interest

Yuzen dyeing is part of Japan’s beautiful traditional culture and adds elegance and delicacy to kimono and other traditional Japanese clothing.
Yuzen dyeing features a rich color palette and simplified curving patterns of plants, animals, utensils, and landscapes called “Yuzen-moyo.”
OKAYAMA-KOUGEI has artisans who specialize in designing, threading, and coloring (sashi yuzen) on staff. We also have a database of 20,000 patterns. Visitors who come for a tour have a chance to see these processes.
